Epilogue to "I Went for a Package of Birthday Supplies.."

The other Purolator package arrived at our doorstep (no signature needed - phew) at our front door.

PS: The TV is now up and running. Putting it up was a struggle. Plasma is really heaving. It was like doing the Summer Olympics event the "Clean and Jerk". Lil'A's highchair acted as our "shoulders" (if you know that type of lifting event).

Will provide pics when the Olympics are completely over and done. What a wonderful experience.

Hats off to the organizers and more importantly the thousands of volunteers.

I Went for a Package of Birthday Supplies...

Got a door-hanger from Purolater on Tuesday. We were away for the first attempt but were here for the second but by the time I got downstairs from lil'A's room, they were gone. It was like they didn't want us to be home. Hm......

So, yesterday, Richard's parents came over in the afternoon to see the big Martin Mars water bomber here in Steveston. (More on that in a post later on - so many pics to sift through). They planned on staying until after the Massey Tunnel rush to get home stress-free. It gave me the opportunity to go up to Purolater to pick-up my package sans kid.

I had an email from a party company saying that they were sending my order on Monday and I could expect it Wednesday at the latest via Purolater. (BTW, it hasn't arrived as of yet as I'm sure you've realized).

So I get to the office up at YVR. Gave them the number and my D.L. for identification. Then, she just went to the back without a word.

She was back there a VERY long time to be getting a 1ft cube package. First I thought that the warehouse was huge and it g0t lost. After about 5 minutes I heard cardboard being pushed on the ground. SLOWLY...

Then, she came around the corner without anything. She asked me if I had a truck. I said, "I have a Highlander, why?" Still expecting a small box. (How stoopid to not get that the package I was picking up was certainly not party supplies). She goes back around the corner and with more cardboard to ground across the floor, as she brings a HUGE box out. Uh-Oh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It SO wasn't lil'A's party supplies. I guess you could say it was a birthday present for me (closest b'day) but it wasn't really. Totally a family thing.

People there said, there is NO WAY that box is going to fit in the back of the Highlander. I would need a truck. (Luckily lil'A wasn't with me - moved the car seat to the front). I got the box dimensions and then out to the Tinker-Truck to measure. It would fit. BARELY.

Got help from 2 guys in the warehouse and was it ever heavy. Needless to say, the hybrid feature of the truck refused to kick in on the way home.

OK, OK, SUSPENSE IS OVER!!! ;)

It is a plasma TV that I got using my Aeroplan miles - for free I guess. It's 58". It's HUGE and HEAVY. We only got it because we couldn't get any flights when we needed them. The merchandise in the TV area were disappearing so we decided to get it.

It was no money down, no credit card for shipping or anything. Just Air Miles. They told us it would be 8-10 weeks. We "bought" it on Feb 6. 2.5 weeks! Who would have guessed! No money, WOW!

The box is as big as our love-seat in the front room. Look at the piano in the background for a reference point.

Bev suggested, we should get it up and running for Sunday to watch the closing ceremonies. Sounds like a great idea but we have so many projects on the go. Wardrobe is coming along but slowly. Lil'A's room still needs the bedroom light changed (big sun).

So, I wonder when the party stuff will arrive. Looking forward to our Ratatouille-themed 2nd birthday for our little gal. That's assuming the party supplies arrive in time. :)

So many projects around the house. OH BOY!

Postcards from the Ledge (of the rooftop in Paa-Ree)

While I've been sick of late I've been working on a party theme for lil'A's 2nd birthday next month - 2 & 1/2 weeks actually. She has so many boy cousins and a few girl friends. A Tinkerbell party just wouldn't work. Too bad, I'm a Tink gal myself and was hoping for one. Oh well, maybe next year.

Finding a gender neutral theme that was unique took a long time to find. Then it occurred to me, lil'A has been watching one Pixar movie even more than Tink lately. (Maybe that's because I've put it away for a while). No, not Cars. No, not The Incredibles, or Toy Story.

Paris and French cooking. Yup... RATATOUILLE. She's been begging to see it for 2 months. But then last week it changed to "Games, games!". She even learned "GO CANADA GO!!!". She's an Olympic-Gal. However, I'm sure "Touille" will be requested again very soon.

I didn't realize how creative this theme could be. Invitations are the first to go. Why not take it a step further to a postcard with a recipe on the back. Those of you in the "cuzzies" list (and you parents know who these peeps are) should be seeing a postcard in the mail Friday I'm guessing.

I found this great image for the pic. I spent hours looking. Was just about to use a typical Paris image but this was too good to pass up.

This is what the back looks like.
Was planning on writing more but the movie just ended and it's time for lil'A's nap before "Gan & Gampa" come over to go to Garry Point park to see the Martin Mars water bomber.

Oh yeah, I'm sure you can guess which movie I'm about to power off. YUP!!!!!!!!!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Olympics are a hit here. (I'll type as the long credits go). Lil'A and I took a tour around the O|Zone the other day and she was so excited. Was mighty cold but fun. Course I sang on Feb 9th for torch too.
Credits over and lil'A is actually reminding ME that's it's "Ni-Ni Time".
Lost thought:
Richmond Chorus DID IT - Our own Olympic History
Well, here's the proof. We did it. Sang for 30,000+ people at the Richmond Torch Relay on Tuesday.
You can only see a bit of my hair in the above picture. I'm 3rd from the right on the top row.
OK, so this one you can see everything but my nose and mouth. I'm 2nd on the right on the top row.
We had a blast. Got to see/talk to Rick Hanson backstage. Touch the torch and see the Olympic Flame lantern for safe keeping. It was a rush.
Another feather in the cap you could say.
WOW!!! What a Rush!
Last night I got to participate in a truly unique/once in a lifetime experience. I had the honour to sing at the 2010 Winter Olympics Torch Relay Lighting ceremony with Richmond Chorus. It was AMAZING!
Rick Hanson brought it in. 30K+ people there. Got to see the torch, eternal flame, and Rick up close. Too many of my co-singers were ahead of me to get a pic with the torch but that's OK. Got a great picture in my head forever. :)
Rich took lil'A into the village to see the relay run through our beloved Steveston village. I hear a changeover in the relay (one to the next) happened right in village. Now we can tell the story to lil'A when she gets older and perhaps an olympian herself. Hey, you never know. : )
The rush seemed to have held my sicky-ness at bay, but today it's worse than ever. Called the Dr.B. people and they said to just get better and then come back. I'm happy already with a 40lb loss. It's all "downhill" from here. hehehehe
Today's the Day - Torch Relay
Well, we've worked really hard at ROCA . We're singing at the Torch Relay Lighting ceremony here in Richmond. Rick Hanson is doing the lighting. We're singing the official Torch Song called "Cette Flamme". Later, we're in the entertainment portion. Don't forget the fireworks every night here.
The famed Heineken House made its home here in Richmond tool.
Flu is taking over the house
Lil'A and I have been living in the family room these days. I've been clutch by a bad flu/cold/whatever that has kept me coughing until I couldn't speak.
I can now speak but the humidifier has been running 24/7 so that I can get the stuff moving.
Lil'A is coughing too but you'd never guess she's sick otherwise. Tinkerbell, Ratatouille, and Cars are all movies she wants to watch and nothing else. Oh, and Monster Inc.
It's so cute. She is singing Twinkle, Twinkle. The funny thing, is that each verse is slightly different. First verse is "Tinker, Tinker" and then "Tinkle Tinkle". Hey, I'm good with verse 2. We're working on the potty situation right now. 2 times a day right now. Not bad I think.
Just in case I don't get back to blogging later this week, Birthday Wishes go out to "Auntie Kare" (Karyn Gert) and Gran from lil'A.
Well, "Ni'Ni'Time" is coming up. Gotta get ready for the torture (new bed issues for lil'A).
