2 Make a Field Hockey Team in this House.

I have regretted and hated that I have been out of the Field Hockey scene since I blew out my knee 10 years ago. So, I decided to try to get back into it by working on training and drills in Steveston Park. As it turns out, it's MUD. I did find a place to practice my hits though.

Before that, I bought my stick on craiglist. There's a first time for everything. Yes, I know I'm behind the times for software geek.

I didn't have a proper ball to practice with. Tennis balls are just not a good substitude. I needed a solid ball with some cork in the middle. Trust me. You do NOT want to get between me and my long hits! Or short hits for that matter. They are really hard.

I went to the one and only field hockey shop to buy a ball. Just as I was about to pay, I saw under the counter the CUTEST mini hockey sticks. I just HAD to get it for Angela.

Got her a floor hockey ball to play with.

She took to it like a duck to water. Check out her skills.

1. Passive defence
2. Flick hit
3. Fakey in the legs

Hmmmm. I wonder at what age they can start playing in a league. She's gonna ROCK me thinks.

I'm a Fashion-Forward Gal!!!

Went to the Eye Doctor (don't ask me to spell the real word. I tried but failed every time). I've only been to the eye doctor since last year.

Last year, I got a weak prescription for night driving. They matched my face that no one really noticed them until 2 - 3 months later. It was quite fascinating. Most especially when the person said,"Have you gotten NEW glasses?" Too funny!!!

Anyhow, I went back to get another check-up today and BANG!!! I was told that I am far-sighted with a sever astigmatism. It's funny, more high-tech people are near-sighted. Yet again, I am again the high-tech grain.

My glasses from last year were setup to help me with driving (especially at night). Well, now the eyes have turned almost completely 180 degrees. Yes they still help with the driving but the doc said that it will make a HUGE improvement in reading and social networking (heh).

The doc was shocked when he saw the original prescription from last year.

So anyway, after the doctor's appointment, it was time to get regular frames and sunglass frames since my prescription will affect my sunny sight.

I swear, I looked at the entire selection and that seemed to take hours. (Good thing since my eyes were dilated).

It's so funny. The frames that fit my face best were very "yeah baby you look FINE" type but they are understated at the same time. The only way you know they are "chic" is that they have bling on the side at the joint.

SO. Get this. My everyday frames are RED frames by GUCCI while my sunglasses frames are purple hue and are from COACH!

Now my goal for the rest of myself is to actually fit clothes that match these frames. It's a long-shot by the time I need to come back again for a check-up but it will be a great goal to strive for. If I don't make it, I guess I'll just have to make sure I get these frames for the next year.

Let's see what they look like next week. 8~)

Some Photography Going Forward

I still wish I could put my photos up here but 5 at a time is not easy at all with the way blogs work. If you're on Facebook, search for "Halos Photography". That's me. Choose to like it so that I can expand my network of networks.

I'm looking forward to the pictures I get to take this weekend. Two COMPLETELY different events. I can't go into detail until Saturday.

Recently, I purchased a tripod and an telephoto lens that self adjusts. This weekend should prove a great testing ground.

Wish me luck!

First Full Day of School

Angie has succeeded completed the "Gradual Integration" at school yesterday. So, today it was the first day of my "free time". If you could call it that. Had an all-day appointment that I had to cancel. Got some chores done. Now there is a new clock in the family and you can see the glass on the "kitchen" table.

Last night was a long night. I started with my new choir. It's a 2.5 hour rehearsal. Poor Rich and Angie. Walking for all that time.

It was hard for me to get going this morning. Harder for Angie I assure you.

When I went to get her ready, I walked in and turned on the light (CFL - takes a while to brighten). I said "Morning, let's go to School!!!!!!". She moved in the bed and just said, "No". Turned over and went back to sleep. "Let's GO. School!!!" She just said No.

It took me asking her about what she saw on her walk with Dad. She listed LOTS of things. Unfortunately, there were all the things she sees on her river walks out here in Steveston. The way that I knew is she said over and over that she saw COWS on there walk. OK, what a second, cows in downtown?

Anyway, when I got her to school, she left me right away. That can be taken both ways. I'm so happy she's so excited. (Well she gets over her tangles).

ANGIE'S FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

OK. It was only 2 hours but it was fun to watch from afar. They are doing the integrated approach.

To make sure we kept the moments that will never happen again, the photographer in me had some fun.

Again, I have a REALLY hard time putting pics up here so FaceBook is easier.

Enjoy and laugh. Promise.... You will. °Ü°

I don't know What to Do...

We're trying to get lil'A into a 3-day, full-day junior kindergarten program. We're hopeful.

The reason I bring this up is that I was topping with my G.P. about what are my plans for the time I have back. I mentioned Medical Transcription and she said to not to start as it is apparently a dying career with the start of more high tech ptoducts.

So, she asked me, "What do you enjoy doing?" Thought about it at it hit me.....

PHOTOGRAPHY!

I have had no training but I see to focus on worm's eve view and bird's eye view of architecture, and then family photography (kids, weddings, family).

I sent off my portfolio book and hope to get it soon. I already have a potential client wanting family portraits. She'll a friend from high-school.

I GOT IN CONTACT WITH HER VIA FACEBOOK.

OK, I apologize

I admit I have remiss in my responsibilities here in the blog-o-sphere.

Much of my life has been tiring out a toddle as well as working on two (is it called an assay??) picture albums. One for Angela's 2 year book for the G-Folks like we did for her first. It's coming along slowly. Writing clips on each page, just so time-consuming.

The other is more of a pet project. I'm designing a Portfolio of sorts of what I consider my best camera shots. It's fun manipulating the photos.

Here I am trying to write while watching (well, listening) to Moonlight and it's SO hard. Some of the funky words I've written and obviously corrected. But, if you happen to see any errors, blame the tall, dark, and handsome vamp named Mick St. John. :-)

Vacay Journal #2: 3 Musicals in 2 Days!

First off, I linked in a bunch of stuff here. I highly recommend watching the YouTube clips if nothing else. They are entertaining.

WOW! What a ride. We got off the ship on Thursday and got to our hotel called Dream. Friday night was all ready for seeing "Wicked - the Musical" (website). The actresses playing the main characters, I think, OUTDID the originators. It's was WICKED!!!!!!!!

Here is a clip on YouTube from Wicked.

But what to do Thursday -> Saturday? We put our bags away and then looked at our key-cards more closely and we noticed that it was advertising another musical.

The musical that was advertised is called "Promises, Promises" written by Neil Simon, musical by Burt Bacharach, and lyrics by Hal David. It has its stars Sean Hayes (formerly Jack of Will & Grace), Kristin Chenoweth (aka Rosetta on Tinkerbell and the original Glinda in Wicked - the Musical). OK, we were hooked! Rightfully so. Matinée it is. Oh yeah, is in it too. Yes, heir to part of the Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) fortune.

We went to the concierge to find out the scoop about the keycard "go-to-see". He said oh yeah, go (which as you can see, we did) and he also suggested "The Addams Family" starring BeBe Neuwirth (aka Lilith on Frazier) and Nathan Lane (voice of Timone on Lion Kind and Tony winner for The Producers).

Off we went to get tix for both shows on Saturday. Matinee and Evening performances. We had to leave Sunday. Boy, talk about a jam packed weekend.

ALL SHOWS WERE AMAZING!!!!! All 3 shows were so completely different. Would recommend any and all but for different reasons. Talk to me, I'll "digress" on the subject.

Vacay Journal #1 - M&M's & Portraits

These will be out of order but photos are being processed in a different order. We actually had 2 cameras once we got to NYC. We bought a little point-and-shoot variety. So far, I haven't got those pics on my laptop. They are on the Mac but 2 crucial shots are on the hard drive of the mini and we can't figure out how to get them copied.

In any event, here are the first pics of M&M's World.

I've also included some of the portraits that were taken on the cruise ship. You know the portrait stuff. They were fun.

MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY thanks to our parents for being vacations for lil'A while we were away, and Steve for keeping Packers happy. Love the tower of kitty power in the sink we found at 3 in the morning.

Guess I Gotta Ramble for the Sake of Blogging

So much has been going on and will go on with the family that I have been remiss in my duties. My apologies.

Some of the highlights:
  • Michelle and my brother David welcomed their son Mason on 4/20/10
  • My cousin Liz welcomed their second son Carter 5/9/10
  • I've just spent the weekend at a major choral event in BC. It culminated in a major concert on Mother's Day. Then drove some Nanaimo people to the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal.
  • On Monday Night (4/17/10) Rich and I take a red-eye to NYC where in Brooklyn, we board the Caribbean Princess heading on a 9-day Eastern Caribbean cruise. Upon our return, we're staying 3 days in the city. On the Friday night, we're excited to attend the Broadway Musical "Wicked" about the Wicked Which of the West from Oz.
  • During all this, Lil'A will be hanging with her grand-parents. At Gramma's during the week and Gran & Grandpa's for the weekends. I'm thinking she will not want to go home. All that spoilage that will happen. :)
  • Our niece MaKayla and nephew Sebastien (can't seem to do the accent on the first "e" on this computer) are coming to Vancouver for the summer.
  • We meet the kids and their family in Kimberley where we will stay and visit for a few days. (That's assuming, I get my latest idea for the summer is confirmed with Kimberley. (Oh yeah, need to call the family up there and find out if this will work - Guess I missed that task - One of the many these days).
  • Next, we're heading up to Green Lake near 100-Mile House to go camping at Emerald Bay provincial park. (We get a great deal b/c Mom has disabled status.
  • Next to Cultus Lake for a few days to hang with the other side of my family.
  • The Webster reunion is at Camp Arbuckle again this year at the end of July.
  • August completely CLEAR. WAHOO!
  • At the end of September, the Hunt family is meeting up at Disney World to celebrate Sebastien's birthday. (Gramma wants to start a tradition for every kid's 8th birthday).
So much to look forward too as well as countdown to. PHEW. Oh yeah, all that prep for each. Guess those tasks come before all others. (I'm finding cutting down bamboo while lil'A plays outside is very cathartic. Keeping kidlet happy is my #1 priority above all that. Making her happy makes me happy.

Potty Training Week - What's in a Name?

Before starting, this is tongue in cheek that's all. Well, also is cathartic I admit

Last Friday, we started the process of Potty Training. WOW! Didn't know that a kid lil'A's size could hold that amount of water and then let it out once every 3 minutes - just enough time to get back from the b-room and for Mommy to clean up.

"Cinderella" seems to be one of my middle names. yikes.

It's all about positive reinforcement. How many times do I praise dry ones and reminding her to tell us etc.

+ the middle name "Quinn". She's head cheerleader on Glee. "Hi, my name is Kat and I'm a GleeK."

Rewards for exceptional work - aka potty success with no mess - is another part of it.

+ "Oscar" let's give out the award for best use of a toilet bowl. Maybe we should call the award "the Golden Plunger".

There is only so much "playing" a toddler can endure with Mommy so, Mommy has to produce some sort of visual entertainment. Bring on the finger puppets.

+ "Heigl" is an alternative last name. (If you don't know, katherine heigl is an actress on Grey's Anatomy, 27 Dresses, and Roswell.

When puppets get old, requests for movies come out. Feel like a Disc Jockey (DVD).

+ "DJ"

Oh yeah, food and drink - LOTS of drink. Hm.... Famous chef... Jamie Oliver works non?

+ "Jamie"

And lastly (that I can think of for now), here I am documenting our fun in a rather unique way. Award winning article perhaps?

+ "Pulitzer"

WOW, I didn't have so many names this week.

"Kathryn QUINN OSCAR HEIGL DJ JAMIE PULITZER Webster"

Please take this all in jest. Phew, and the week isn't even over yet.

Yup, David (my brother) and Michelle welcomed little Mason Elliott 8lbs to the world yesterday at 8.43 pm at Burnaby General.

All are doing well and they are to stay at the hospital until Thursday.

I'm sure they will put up pics when they can. I will try to post as well.

The Comedy Cave AKA Casa del Webster

New Nursery Rhyme Lyrics by lil'A Webster.

Right from the Angel's mouth:

Tinkle, tinkle, little staw
Ow why wander wha you ahwhuh
Up above the word so dwy (dry)
Like a diaper in the sky...

I'm not kidding around here. I even got her to sing it twice, but she refused to on camera This was her morning song today. It took all my strength to not fall down on the floor and "gut laugh".

Funny thing is, we're not trying to potty train right now. 2 weeks from now actually since this weekend is Easter and next, I'm going on tour with the Chorus. You could call it a semi-Interior tour (Kamloops & Vernon)

Ah, kids. Who needs to go out to see comedy and pay for it. Got no $$, come on over.

Oh yeah, catch phrases:
  • I cwy
  • I cwanky (both this one and the "cwy" one are just threats. They aren't ALWAYS true. But then again)
  • Boowies = blueberries (well, that's an oldy but goody)
  • Crannies = I think you get the idea
  • Songs Song Songs Songs peas (while in the car - wanting me to plug in the iPod)
  • Wahk a wahk. 2 meanings. To rock in a rocking chair AND to go for a walk with Daddy. To me it sounds like an homage to Fozzie Bear (muppet).
  • No duoors (pronounced almost like "do" - can't figure out how to write it), no dwars. (Was trying early on with the new bed to get her to not pull stuff out of the doors (closet) and the drawers. When she says these, they almost sound the same
  • High-cheer. Name for her high chair which she BEGS to be in to watch movies. It's weird right? A kid WANTING to be in their high chair?
  • Peas peas. Takes a couple of rounds of asking before I realize she's actually pleading (politely) for frozen peas.
  • E C E E E = According to lil'A, these are the first 5 letters of the alphabet.
  • Beeb a beeb a beeb peas. She asks for her bib before eating.
Don't get me wrong. Lil'A does speak extremely well; so I'm told. Sometimes she just reverts to the "oldies but goodies" (as many of these are) so I thought it would be funny to document them.

Friends Sometimes Come in as Amazing People, While Others...

I have been lucky to have many friends in my life. Family have been a blessing too. People from old "places" in my life and others I can't even name.

I've recently been in contact with a gal that 5 years ago, we were in such different places that we couldn't even talk to each other. We had to be "civil" because of our loved ones. Tried and had to tell my loved one that we will just have to agree to disagree.

Then, an idea came to me while talking to Rich and the only person I could think of the bounce the idea off was this person. They were people that just had that sort of vibe that my idea needed. Facebook mail was done (a long one) and I wasn't expecting a reply right away, if at all.

Within a day, I got a message back. They were very excited about the idea and had something that might match up with. They wanted to meet to chat. I was unsure based on our history but I was game.

Now we're having dinner next week. I hope it goes well. I'm quite sure it will.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now the other side. The sad side. : ' (
A.K. was my best friend from the eighth grade. I don't think she deserves to have her name - it hurts) We stayed best friends all through school. After graduation, she went off to UBC, while I went to BCIT. As expected, we drifted apart but every month or 2 we would meet for coffee or dinner. She had a child and she asked me to be his god-mother. I said yes. I was so honoured.
I went to work first (2 year program) and then she joined the workforce 2 years later, in a completely different field. Talked by phone quite often. She wanted to talk through some relationship issues. She listened to my loneliness too.
Then she got pregnant again. She said she just couldn't keep the baby and asked me to help her to find suitable adoptive parents. We screened for days until we should the couple she wanted.
Then I ended up in my first REAL relationship with a guy from developmental psychologist out at UBC. It lasts around 6 months. When the harshest break-up of my life (I had to do it but it was mutual in a way. He did something absolutely terrible to me and I cut and ran. Anyway, A.K. came running to my side to help me through it.
We stayed in touch for the next few years by phone mostly.
The, in 2004, I started dating Richard. She and I talked about it with me. She seemed happy for me.
We made plans for coffee one day because I happened to be on the North Shore (where she worked). Well, plans changed and I couldn't make it. Called with a couple of hours before and she understood. At least that what she said.
A few weeks later, she told me she saw James and Rich at the super-market. They didn't see her but it didn't phase her.
Then, I checked my email a week or two later to find and email from her. It was a "Dear John" letter. She said we had grown apart. It was time to "move on". "It's not you, it's me" yada yada yada. She told me that she was moving and didn't want me to find her.
I was "gob-smacked". She was with me half of my life then. I cried for days. It was worse than a "break-up".
Tried to call and phone right away but she was gone.
To lose a best friend is just terrible. I hope that never happens to you.
May 17th is coming up fast
Yes, there is a very special birthday before the May date. Lil'A's birthday is on March 15th. Having a Ratatouille party on Sunday March 14th. Interested in coming, please let me know soon.
Anyhow. May 17th to May 30th. Rich and I are heading to the Big Apple. Yup, that's right. New York City.
We take a red-eye direct flight and get there early morning. We get a shuffle to a cruise ship. We then are off on a 9-day cruise to the Caribbean. We got an interior cabin so we could have a little more "glitz" in the city. :)
Upon return to NYC, we're staying at a REALLY cool hotel we found on our Carnegie Hall trip. It's called DREAM. Not THE DREAM HOTEL. Just DREAM. Ultra-modern and also art-deco. Interesting combination but it works.
Friday night in the city, we're going to see the musical Wicked. If you haven't heard of it, it's a take-off of the Wizard of Oz.
We fly back on another red-eye so that we get one day to get back on track.
Lil'A is going have extended g-parents visits while we're away. We thank them VERY MUCH in advance.
But, first things first. Lil'A's second birthday.
Fly back
Epilogue to "I Went for a Package of Birthday Supplies.."
The other Purolator package arrived at our doorstep (no signature needed - phew) at our front door.
PS: The TV is now up and running. Putting it up was a struggle. Plasma is really heaving. It was like doing the Summer Olympics event the "Clean and Jerk". Lil'A's highchair acted as our "shoulders" (if you know that type of lifting event).
Will provide pics when the Olympics are completely over and done. What a wonderful experience.
Hats off to the organizers and more importantly the thousands of volunteers.
I Went for a Package of Birthday Supplies...
Got a door-hanger from Purolater on Tuesday. We were away for the first attempt but were here for the second but by the time I got downstairs from lil'A's room, they were gone. It was like they didn't want us to be home. Hm......
So, yesterday, Richard's parents came over in the afternoon to see the big Martin Mars water bomber here in Steveston. (More on that in a post later on - so many pics to sift through). They planned on staying until after the Massey Tunnel rush to get home stress-free. It gave me the opportunity to go up to Purolater to pick-up my package sans kid.
I had an email from a party company saying that they were sending my order on Monday and I could expect it Wednesday at the latest via Purolater. (BTW, it hasn't arrived as of yet as I'm sure you've realized).
So I get to the office up at YVR. Gave them the number and my D.L. for identification. Then, she just went to the back without a word.
She was back there a VERY long time to be getting a 1ft cube package. First I thought that the warehouse was huge and it g0t lost. After about 5 minutes I heard cardboard being pushed on the ground. SLOWLY...
Then, she came around the corner without anything. She asked me if I had a truck. I said, "I have a Highlander, why?" Still expecting a small box. (How stoopid to not get that the package I was picking up was certainly not party supplies). She goes back around the corner and with more cardboard to ground across the floor, as she brings a HUGE box out. Uh-Oh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It SO wasn't lil'A's party supplies. I guess you could say it was a birthday present for me (closest b'day) but it wasn't really. Totally a family thing.
People there said, there is NO WAY that box is going to fit in the back of the Highlander. I would need a truck. (Luckily lil'A wasn't with me - moved the car seat to the front). I got the box dimensions and then out to the Tinker-Truck to measure. It would fit. BARELY.
Got help from 2 guys in the warehouse and was it ever heavy. Needless to say, the hybrid feature of the truck refused to kick in on the way home.
OK, OK, SUSPENSE IS OVER!!! ;)
It is a plasma TV that I got using my Aeroplan miles - for free I guess. It's 58". It's HUGE and HEAVY. We only got it because we couldn't get any flights when we needed them. The merchandise in the TV area were disappearing so we decided to get it.
It was no money down, no credit card for shipping or anything. Just Air Miles. They told us it would be 8-10 weeks. We "bought" it on Feb 6. 2.5 weeks! Who would have guessed! No money, WOW!
The box is as big as our love-seat in the front room. Look at the piano in the background for a reference point.
Bev suggested, we should get it up and running for Sunday to watch the closing ceremonies. Sounds like a great idea but we have so many projects on the go. Wardrobe is coming along but slowly. Lil'A's room still needs the bedroom light changed (big sun).
So, I wonder when the party stuff will arrive. Looking forward to our Ratatouille-themed 2nd birthday for our little gal. That's assuming the party supplies arrive in time. :)
So many projects around the house. OH BOY!
Postcards from the Ledge (of the rooftop in Paa-Ree)
While I've been sick of late I've been working on a party theme for lil'A's 2nd birthday next month - 2 & 1/2 weeks actually. She has so many boy cousins and a few girl friends. A Tinkerbell party just wouldn't work. Too bad, I'm a Tink gal myself and was hoping for one. Oh well, maybe next year.
Finding a gender neutral theme that was unique took a long time to find. Then it occurred to me, lil'A has been watching one Pixar movie even more than Tink lately. (Maybe that's because I've put it away for a while). No, not Cars. No, not The Incredibles, or Toy Story.
Paris and French cooking. Yup... RATATOUILLE. She's been begging to see it for 2 months. But then last week it changed to "Games, games!". She even learned "GO CANADA GO!!!". She's an Olympic-Gal. However, I'm sure "Touille" will be requested again very soon.
I didn't realize how creative this theme could be. Invitations are the first to go. Why not take it a step further to a postcard with a recipe on the back. Those of you in the "cuzzies" list (and you parents know who these peeps are) should be seeing a postcard in the mail Friday I'm guessing.
I found this great image for the pic. I spent hours looking. Was just about to use a typical Paris image but this was too good to pass up.
This is what the back looks like.
Was planning on writing more but the movie just ended and it's time for lil'A's nap before "Gan & Gampa" come over to go to Garry Point park to see the Martin Mars water bomber.
Oh yeah, I'm sure you can guess which movie I'm about to power off. YUP!!!!!!!!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Olympics are a hit here. (I'll type as the long credits go). Lil'A and I took a tour around the O|Zone the other day and she was so excited. Was mighty cold but fun. Course I sang on Feb 9th for torch too.

Credits over and lil'A is actually reminding ME that's it's "Ni-Ni Time".

Richmond Chorus DID IT - Our own Olympic History

Well, here's the proof. We did it. Sang for 30,000+ people at the Richmond Torch Relay on Tuesday.

You can only see a bit of my hair in the above picture. I'm 3rd from the right on the top row.

OK, so this one you can see everything but my nose and mouth. I'm 2nd on the right on the top row.

We had a blast. Got to see/talk to Rick Hanson backstage. Touch the torch and see the Olympic Flame lantern for safe keeping. It was a rush.

Another feather in the cap you could say.

WOW!!! What a Rush!

Last night I got to participate in a truly unique/once in a lifetime experience. I had the honour to sing at the 2010 Winter Olympics Torch Relay Lighting ceremony with Richmond Chorus. It was AMAZING!

Rick Hanson brought it in. 30K+ people there. Got to see the torch, eternal flame, and Rick up close. Too many of my co-singers were ahead of me to get a pic with the torch but that's OK. Got a great picture in my head forever. :)

Rich took lil'A into the village to see the relay run through our beloved Steveston village. I hear a changeover in the relay (one to the next) happened right in village. Now we can tell the story to lil'A when she gets older and perhaps an olympian herself. Hey, you never know. : )

The rush seemed to have held my sicky-ness at bay, but today it's worse than ever. Called the Dr.B. people and they said to just get better and then come back. I'm happy already with a 40lb loss. It's all "downhill" from here. hehehehe

Today's the Day - Torch Relay

Well, we've worked really hard at ROCA . We're singing at the Torch Relay Lighting ceremony here in Richmond. Rick Hanson is doing the lighting. We're singing the official Torch Song called "Cette Flamme". Later, we're in the entertainment portion. Don't forget the fireworks every night here.

The famed Heineken House made its home here in Richmond tool.

Flu is taking over the house

Lil'A and I have been living in the family room these days. I've been clutch by a bad flu/cold/whatever that has kept me coughing until I couldn't speak.

I can now speak but the humidifier has been running 24/7 so that I can get the stuff moving.

Lil'A is coughing too but you'd never guess she's sick otherwise. Tinkerbell, Ratatouille, and Cars are all movies she wants to watch and nothing else. Oh, and Monster Inc.

It's so cute. She is singing Twinkle, Twinkle. The funny thing, is that each verse is slightly different. First verse is "Tinker, Tinker" and then "Tinkle Tinkle". Hey, I'm good with verse 2. We're working on the potty situation right now. 2 times a day right now. Not bad I think.

Just in case I don't get back to blogging later this week, Birthday Wishes go out to "Auntie Kare" (Karyn Gert) and Gran from lil'A.

Well, "Ni'Ni'Time" is coming up. Gotta get ready for the torture (new bed issues for lil'A).

Jan 31, 2010

It's the last day of January and I figured it would be a good day to review my reSOLUTIONs.

  • One of my many resolutions is to Blog more regularly. Let's say that regularly is once every 3 weeks. WAHOO, I'm on track. :) @3 entries - well 4 if you count this one - in one month. Effectively once a week is pretty good right?
  • Another I decided to start early in November, I've actually kept. So far so good. @Hit a few of my milestones already but I'm not quite ready to give it up just yet.
  • I've got to get more pics taken to put into lil'A's "Year 1" album. Hopefully I can keep that one. @Uh, working on this but she is just so busy and gets a little ticked when I pull out the camera.
  • Olympics - Going to make at least one visit as a family,cuz Bruce Allen guilt'ed me into it in a Reality Check today. @ Can't do much until Feb 12 hits
  • Going to try to get a bunch of flowers in the kitchen at least once every 2 weeks. So far on track. @ None since cuz we've been a sick house. Still working on it.
  • Clean/Re-org a piece of the house a week. Am ahead of schedule although none of you would notice. So far, it's 5 kitchen drawers. Does that mean I get a 2 week by? @Lil'A's room is re-organized now.
  • Potty-Train lil'A within 3 months (wish us luck - Jan 10th was our first WAHOO!) @She's doing 2 or more a day already, but she has yet to tell us when.
  • Get lil'A out of the crib and into a "big-girl bed". We went to IKEA today and should wouldn't get off the bed. She freaked out when I got her back in the cart. She just kept yelling "NIGHT-NIGHT-NIGHT". I'm thinking DING or Check within a week or two. @Bought bed a week or so back AND this weekend we put it up. Her room is a little tight (with both crib and bed). She didn't sleep in it last night because it was not done up. Although I have been sick with a REALLY nasty cold, I took a bit of time to make up her new bed for her and Daddy to have some special time tonight. SIFF A choo!
  • Divest our house of "baby-things". Lil'A has become a big-girl and she has cousins coming in March/April. Different stuff to different couples. Can't wait to de-clutter just a little. @Am making lots of progress on this. Adding lil'A's bed in the room made us change a lot of things around and pull stuff out.
  • Oh, and take down the Christmas stuff. Uh.... still working on that one. :) @Uh.... and STILL working on that one. Other priorities. Maybe before the end of the Olympics.
Well, that's how things are right now. We did however purchase a big wardrobe for our bedroom (tax credit - wahoo) to give our room a MUCH needed makeover. Maybe the feng-shui is off but we need a change and it's a-coming.

Well gotta go. Head-ache from congestion is getting to my eyes.

Big Apple here we come!!!! "Start Spreading the News"

It's now officially "bought". R and I are going to New York City to jump a boat and head south May 18. We 're going around and round out there in the Atlantic for 9 day tour. (anyone got a pic of Gilligan in their heads?)

We then come back to terra ferma in the Apple again. We're staying 3 days at the AWESOME Dream (hotel - but they don't use the word - they just say DREAM). Tickets to "Wicked" - WAHOO! I feel like I'm "Defying Gravity" hehehehe. hint: Glee and Musical reference.

We might even make it to the opening week of Cirque du Soleil's "Egg" (I think that's what it's called).

I really hope we'll need less suitcases this time (smaller clothes help with that). :) Less cargo to carry around NYC is always a good thing especially in trying to get to JFK.

So Big Apple here we smaller come....

And thank you in advance to the g-parents for having a great time while we're State-side.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our performance to the Torch Relay is getting ever closer. R went and got me our Canadian Olympic right gloves. If anyone is planning on coming, You actually be able to see me. In our last of 3 songs, I get to work with 6 other people to lead the audience. If you're there and I spot you not singing . That all I'm saying.
OLYMPICS START IN 2 WEEKS EXACTLY.
GET YOUR SPIRIT ON!!!!!!!
GO CANADA GO!!!!!!
Lots of interior reno's bought but not quite on the go yet
No, we're not talking procrastination here (although those of you that "used" to know me "BC" - before child - I was just that such thing).
As you know we got the "big girl" bed over the weekend. While we were at IKEA, we saw that wardrobes went on sale (20%). If you've seen our master bedroom, you'd know that the owner/builder was CRAZY. An en-suite that is WAY too big and NO wardrobes at all in the bedroom. Last owners left us really terrible old, old, old, IKEA'ish wardrobes.
Yesterday, Lil'A and I met my mom (Gramma) went to get this thing all bought before the Tax Credit deadline. I had to pick all of the internal pieces up first but then got to send them back to the big pieces. Then they delivered them TODAY. We have IKEA boxes all over the house. SHEESH.
Hoping to get at least one of the projects done over the weekend. This should be rather entertaining with lil'A in the mix.
I do get to get rid of Mom's TV box out of the dining room on Friday.
One box down....... 24 to go........
Maybe this is OUR Olympics. To me it seems light the weight-lifting gold metal up for grabs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BTW, on the Olympic front, I'm honoured to have the opportunity to sing at the Torch Relay in Richmond with ROCA at Minoru Park (aka O-Zone) on Tue Feb 9th 7-9PM. If you're interested, let me know for more deets. Note: Rick Hansen is bringing the torch into the O-Zone.

A few to-do's yes, but doable I think.

Wish the Websters luck.
